OMAHA, Neb. – Wayne Farmer’s first collegiate goal couldn’t have come at a better time as his heroics lifted the Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Omaha on Saturday.

ORU improved to 5-6-1 overall and moved its Summit League mark to 3-1-0 to guarantee at least a .500 win percentage in league play for the first time in two seasons, while Omaha fell to 3-8-1 overall and 1-3-0 in conference action.

Edgardo Mira got the scoring going for the Golden Eagles in the 25th minute has he scored his team best fourth goal of the season. Johnny Chavez and Alex White were credited with the assists.

After trailing the Golden Eagles 1-0 at halftime, the Mavericks were able to get on the board a minute and a half into the second stanza with a header from Mark Moulton, assisted by Nick Miller and Logan Mendez.

It looked as if the match would be the fourth straight match the Golden Eagles would be playing in overtime, but Farmer had other ideas. With just nine seconds remaining in regulation, Marco Hernandez centered the ball to set up Farmer from five yards out.

The Mavs had issues with the Golden Eagle attack all match as Chavez was able to four shots on goal. ORU’s total of six shots on goal was the second most in a match this season.

Isaac Sandoval recorded six saves in the en route to his second victory of the season, while Omaha’s Matt Grosey had four saves in the loss.

The Golden Eagles have a quick turnaround as they host Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Case Soccer Complex. On Sept. 6, the Bears topped the Golden Eagles 0-1 in Conway, Ark.
