Lubbock, TX—Jack Whitt highlighted a list of three first place finishers for the Oral Roberts track and field team, as the Golden Eagles put on another strong showing in outdoor competition in the Texas Tech Open at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track and Field Complex.
Whitt placed first in pole vault and unleashed for the top score so far this season in the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) with a 5.58m. Whitt’s previous season-best was the 5.45m score that he recorded at the NCAA championships. The 5.58m is also a personal best for Whitt, eclipsing his 5.50m mark on January 15, 2010 at the Wichita State Invitational. Dustin Gehrke came in second for ORU with a score of 5.25m.
Kristen Radcliff placed first in the 5000 meter run, turning in a 17:58, which was well in front of UTEP’s Karina Garcia who placed second with an 18:25.54. Not to be outdone, ORU’s Sheila Ndasym came in third with an 18:46.54.
Clive Chafausipo rounded out ORU’s top finishers, placing first in men’s long jump with a 7.83m.
TK Whitfield impressed in the women’s 400 meter dash, scoring a fifth place finish with a 55.58. Also landing fifth place for the Golden Eagles was Lauren McFarland who scored a 3.75m in the pole vault.
Cornisha Wilkerson continued to add to her impressive season resume, grabbing seventh in the 200 meter dash with a 24.23.
On the men’s side of the action, Jeffery Gibson’s 47.07 was good enough for a third place finish in the 400 meter dash.
Shadrack Koech earned sixth in the men’s 5000 meter with a 15:58.06, while the ORU ‘A’ team landed first in the 4x400 with a 3:07.27.
