Austin, TX—The Oral Roberts track and field team was led once again by Jack Whitt, who posted yet another school, personal and NCAA-best, turning in a 5.60m score and grabbing first place in the pole vault at the 84th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Whitt’s 5.60m edged his previous personal-high of 5.58m that he turned in just last week. Saturday's 5.60m score not only set an ORU and personal-record for the sophomore, it is also an NCAA best for the season as reported in the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS). This marks the second-consecutive week that Whitt has set a new NCAA high for the year.
ORU’s Dustin Gehrke rounded out the top-10 in pole vault, scoring a 5.05m on the afternoon.
Jeffery Gibson was another top-finisher for the Golden Eagles, as the sophomore nabbed eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a 52.53.
The team of Jeramy Roberts, Clive Chafausipo, Brandon Williams and Gibson rounded out the top weekend performances for ORU with a third place finish (3:09.00) in the 4x400 University Finals. The Golden Eagles fell just shy of Clemson, who finished second with a 3:08.97.
ORU is back in action next Saturday as they travel to Norman, Oklahoma for a meet hosted by the University of Oklahoma.
