Whitt Earns Second Consecutive Summit League Honor
ELMHURST, Ill. - Oral Roberts' Jack Whitt and South Dakota State's Brooke Garner were named The Summit League's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their performances March 27-April 2.
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Jack Whitt, Oral Roberts
Jr., Norman, Okla./Norman North
Whitt earns his seventh career Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor and second consecutive of the season after a first-place finish in the pole vault at Texas Relays. The Norman, Okla., native matched his league-best height of 18'0" (5.50m), which also ties for the third-best mark it nation. His event title marks his second-straight in as many weeks and second consecutive at the Texas Relays. Whitt's honor sets the league record for career Athlete of the Week awards at seven.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Garner claims her first career Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award after setting a school record in the hammer throw and winning the discus at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic. The junior finished first in the hammer throw with a league-best mark of 197'9" (60.28m), breaking the SDSU record by nearly 10 feet, setting a meet record and recording the 13th-best mark in the nation. She also won the discus with a distance of 158'00" (48.16m), a meet record and the second-best mark in the league.
