NEW ORLEANS, La.-After placing in the top eight at the recent NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Oral Roberts senior Clive Chafausipo (long jump) and junior Jack Whitt (pole vault) have been named to the USTFCCCA All-American First Team in their respective events. Additionally, Jeffery Gibson was named a second team All-American and Camila Pirelli earned honorable mention honors from the organization.

As a team, the ORU men's track and field team finished the season ranked 20th in the nation according to the points scored at the national championship meet. The Summit League as a conference ranked sixth, behind the ACC.

Whitt became the second outdoor track and field National Champion in the history of ORU as he cleared the bar at 5.65m (18-6.5), four inches higher than the second place competitor from UCLA. It was a school record mark for Whitt.

Chafausipo won his flight and finished fourth overall in the long jump, doing so with a mark of 7.82m in the championship. Although not his longest jump of the year, Chafausipo did set the school record in his senior campaign, doing so in the preliminary rounds as he finished as the West Region runner-up to qualify for the championship. Entering the NCAA preliminary rounds, Chafausipo was ranked 18th in the region.

Gibson qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400m hurdles, and finished 12th overall with a time of 50.72 seconds, just 0.03 seconds off his school record time.

Pirelli set a school record in the javelin to qualify for the NCAA championships and went on to finish 20th to earn her honorable mention honors.
