Gibson wins second straight SLC weekly honor

FRISCO, Texas - For the second consecutive week, Oral Roberts track standout Jeffery Gibson has been honored by the Southland Conference as the men's track athlete of the week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Gibson, a native of the Bahamas, earned his third victory of the indoor season this past Saturday when he cross the line ahead of a pair of Nebraska teammates with a time of 47.44. He also competed as a part of the Golden Eagle 4x400 relay team.

Hosted by Nebraska in Lincoln, the Adidas Classic featured Nebraska, Iowa, Air Force, Wichita State and ORU.

Other Golden Eagles nominated for conference awards included senior Dustin Gehrke (men's field), Madison Reynolds (women's track) and Lauren McFarland (women's field).

The Golden Eagles take to the track again this Friday as they make their second trip of the season to Lawrence, Kan., this time for the Kansas Jayhawk Classic.
