Reynolds runs to victory in Nebraska; ORU posts seven top five finishers
LINCOLN, Neb. – Sophomore sprinter Madison Reynolds ran away with a victory in the 400 meter dash on Saturday at the Mark Colligan Memorial, hosted by Nebraska. Joining Reynolds with top five finishes were six other Oral Roberts track and field athletes.
Reynolds won the event easily as she crossed the finish line in 54.52 seconds, more than two seconds ahead of second place finisher Kiara Giles of Wichita State. It was the second victory in the 400 meter dash for Reynolds in as many meets. Her time is also the top mark in the Southland Conference this season.
Tamaira Williams had a solid afternoon in Lincoln, Neb., with a second place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.14. In the 60 meter dash, Williams placed fourth with a time of 7.80.
In the women’s 800 meter run, Erin Roberson placed fourth with a mark of 2:19.05, her best time of the season.
The trio of Lauren McFarland, Daniella Szabo and Linhchi Lai placed in consecutive order in the women’s pole vault, with McFarland and Szabo each finished at the height of 3.66 meters and tied for third and Lai finished fifth at 3.51 meters. The trio now holds four of the top five marks in the Southland this season.
Up next for the ORU men’s and women’s track and field teams is a trip to Wichita, Kan., next Friday and Saturday as the Golden Eagles are set to participate in the Varsity Apartments Invitational, hosted by Wichita State.
