Spencer Leads Golden Eagles at ORU Shootout

BROKEN ARROW, Okla.—Sophomore Jake Spencer fired a final-round 66 to lead Oral Roberts to a fifth-place finish at the Bob Hurley Auto Family ORU Shootout, Tuesday at Golf Club of Oklahoma.

Spencer’s round was the lowest by an ORU golfer in four years and the fourth lowest single-round score in ORU golf history. He finished the tournament tied for fifth at 5-over par 221 (79-76-66).

Texas State (885) won the team title for the third consecutive year, while Louisiana-Monroe’s Gustaf Kocken captured individual medalist honors. Kocken shot a 76 on Tuesday and finished at 6-under par 210 (67-67-76).

The Golden Eagles shot 301 as a team on Friday, leaving them at 906 (305-300-301) for the tournament.

Junior Bryan Boaz capped off a strong showing with a 77, leaving him 15th at 224 (74-73-77). Sophomore Shannon Allen finished tied for 24th at 230 (76-75-79).

Sophomore David Holtgrewe finished in a tie for 27th at 231 (76-76-79). Senior Garrett Moore tied for 49th at 245 (84-77-84).

The Golden Eagles conclude their fall schedule Oct. 18-19 at UMKC.
