Men's Golf Sixth at Arkansas State
JONESBORO, Ark.-Despite rainy conditions which washed away the first round, Oral Roberts men's golf team is in sixth place with one round remaining at the Arkansas State Red Wolf Intercollegiate, Monday at Ridge Pointe Country Club.
The Golden Eagles shot 289 and trails team co-leaders Central Arkansas and Meridian CC (281) by eight strokes in the 18-team event.
The two-day tournament was originally slated to begin at 8 a.m. Monday, but due to inclement weather conditions in the Jonesboro area did not begin until 1:15 p.m. The tournament has also been shortened from 54 holes to 36 with the first round to be played Monday and the second Tuesday. Play was suspended at 5:30 p.m. for a little over 30 minutes due to lightning in the area.
Sophomore Jake Spencer enjoyed ORU's best round on Monday, shooting 2-under par 70. Bryan Boaz is tied for 15th at 1-under 71, his best round of the season.
David Holtgrewe is tied for 31st at 1-over par 73, and Billy Barbour and Garrett Moore each shot 75 and are tied for 56th.
The second and final round begins at 8 a.m., Tuesday.
