McInroe Goes Under Par for Second Consecutive Round; ORU Finishes 6th
KANSAS CITY, Mo.-The Golden Eagle men's golf team has carded a total of three rounds under par this year, and Trevor McInroe has two of them, doing so in back-to-back rounds to close out the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, hosted by UMKC. ORU finished with a 298 on Tuesday and an 894 for the tournament, finishing sixth overall, while Central Arkansas ran away with the tournament, finishing at 843.
McInroe finished the tournament at 220 (78-71-71) in a tie for 13th overall, his best score and finish of the season. Shannon Allen's final round 77 (+5) put him in a tie for 23rd with a three round total of 226 (76-73-77, +10).
Scott Newell also finished with 226 after shooting rounds of 77-74-75 and was part of the six way tie for 23rd.
David Holtgrewe turned in a final round 75, and finished tied for 30th after shooting 73-80-75 (228, +12) for the tournament. Jake Spencer rounded out the ORU finishers with a 79 in round three, giving him a total of 231 (+15) after shooting 74-78-79 in the tournament. Spencer finished tied for 39th overall.
The sixth place finish ends the fall season for the ORU men's golf team. The Golden Eagles will be back in action on February 13-14 as they travel to the 2012 South Utah Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational.
