Solid First Round Puts ORU in Ninth at Bill Ross
OVERLAND Park, Kan.-Thanks to a season-best 295 in the first round, ORU carded a 598 (+22) on the first day of the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, putting the Golden Eagles in ninth place overall. The final round of competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, from Milburn Golf and Country Club.
The hosts from Missouri-Kansas City lead the way at 572 (-4) and were the only team to finish under par. The Golden Eagles enter the final round trailing Western Illinois by four and are one shot ahead of Drake and Utah State.
Shannon Allen again led the way for ORU as the senior combined for a 147 in the first two rounds, shooting 74 and 73 to tie for 20th overall.
Trevor McInroe shot 73 in the first round and 76 in the second for a 149, tying him for 29th overall. Spencer Sheets' 152 (75-77) put him in a tie for 49th, while Scott Newell shot 73-81 for 154, tying for 63rd overall.
Rounding out the team scoring for ORU was Jake Spencer, who shot 78-77 (155), placing 69th after day one.
