Braxton Bates and the Golden Eagles fell to Air Force on Monday

The Falcons (9-7) started the proceedings by winning all three doubles matches. Lance Wilhelm and Grant Taylor won the No. 1 match, 8-4, over Jason Mechali and Fabian Zierleyn, and on court two Alex Grubbs teamed with Jack McCullers for an 8-2 victory over Parker Allen and Nathaniel Avery. The doubles sweep was completed on court three, where Steven Young and Andrew Parks dispatched of Gabriel Kanelopoulos and Braxton Bates, 8-2.
Air Force finished the day with six singles wins. Wilhelm, ranked 78th in the nation, took the featured court from Zierleyn, 6-2, 6-3, and Young toppled Mechali on the second court, 6-3, 6-2. Grubbs followed in the third flight, where he earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Allen, and Taylor won the fourth flight, 6-1, 6-0 over Avery.
On court five, Andy Jackson triumphed over ORU’s Bates, and Parks completed the day in the sixth flight with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Kanelopoulos.
ORU’s road trip continues on Tuesday afternoon, when they face Northern Colorado.
