TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University men’s tennis team was honored to participate in a service project last week at LaFortune Park in Tulsa. Head Coach Mark Milner’s team partnered with Youth at Heart to conduct a one-day tennis clinic for local children.

Ten youth members of the Youth at Heart organization participated in the event, providing ORU student-athletes plenty of opportunity to give personalized instruction.

“This was a fantastic event, and our guys were truly thrilled to get the opportunity to interact with local children,” said Milner. “Events like this are a real blessing to our team, because our guys love sharing the game with a younger generation, and they really have a heart for giving back to the Tulsa community.”

Milner’s team regularly volunteers at youth tennis events throughout Tulsa, furthering ORU’s mission of Developing Whole Person Champions.

“Our team is especially grateful to Melissa McCorkle, the Director of Tennis at LaFortune, for helping us organize the event,” Milner added. “The folks at LaFortune are great friends of our program, and it’s always great when we can work with them.”

The Golden Eagles will play at least five home matches at LaFortune Park during the upcoming 2014 season.

ORU opens their 2014 season on Saturday, January 18, when they take on South Dakota State.
