Tulsa, OK—The University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers pulled out a 4-0 victory over the Oral Roberts men’s tennis team Saturday afternoon at the University of Tulsa.
Due to travel plans, both teams decided to play singles first, rather than doubles. UAB managed to clinch the victory with wins at the 3-6 spots.
ORU’s Dmitry Suslov fell to Lucas Dirube 2-6, 2-6 in #3 singles, while Dario Beslic dropped a tough 0-6, 2-6 to Daniel Moser in the 4 spot.
UAB’s Chris Hellar pulled out a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Matthew Tansil at 5, and Tom Puetz downed Matthew Prevost 6-0, 6-0 at #6 to wrap-up the contest.
With UAB’s game clinching wins at the 3-6 spots, the #1 and #2 singles matches were halted.
The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 1-3 on the young season, while UAB moves to 2-3.
ORU is back in action next Friday, when they travel to Wichita, Kansas to take on Wichita State at 2:00 p.m.
