With the win, UMKC (7-15, 3-1 Summit League) secures a spot in the Summit League Tennis Championship next week.
The Kangaroos took both completed doubles points in easy fashion. Grant Fleming and Cameron Schoenhofer took down ORU’s Alvaro Gutierrez and Nathaniel Avery at the top spot, 8-4, and Abdulrahman Alawadhi teamed with Gustavo Guerin to polish off Pedro Moreno and Parker Allen, 8-2.
Singles play was much closer, but the ‘Roos took all six courts. Fleming started the sweep with a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Gutierrez, and Tomas Patino continued the momentum with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Allen at court two.
The third flight belonged to Alawadhi, 6-3, 6-0, over Moreno, while Nino Hasandedic dropped Avery on court four, 6-1, 6-2.
Guerin won the final completed match, 6-0, 6-0, over Matthew Prevost, and UMKC also won by default on the sixth court.
The Golden Eagles wrap up their 2012 season on Saturday afternoon, when they face South Dakota State at 12 pm CT in Kansas City.
