Bates Joins ORU Tennis Program

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University men’s tennis program is proud to announce that Braxton Bates has signed a National Letter of Intent and will compete for the team in 2013. Bates hails from Edmond, where he attends Oklahoma Christian School.

Bates is a four-year letter winner at Oklahoma Christian, where he has consistently performed at a high level. Bates was a regional champion in each of his first three seasons, advancing to the OSSAA 4A State Tournament each season. As a freshman, Bates was the state runner-up in the OSSAA 4A doubles tournament.

While at OCS, Bates was coached by Mark Shuck.

Bates is the son of Roddy and Angel Bates. He plans to major in Business at ORU and attend law school after graduation.

The ORU men’s tennis program captured nine Summit League tournament titles over their 14 years in the conference. They will begin play in the Southland Conference in 2013.
