Iryna Khatsko's collegiate career came to an end on Friday afternoon
WACO, Texas - A banner season came to an end on Friday afternoon as Oral Roberts University fell to No. 12 Baylor, 4-0, in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship.

ORU’s Summit League title-winning season ends at 13-6, while Baylor advances to Saturday’s second round, where they will face either Tulsa or Stephen F. Austin.

The Lady Bears (24-7) took control of the match by dominating the doubles courts. Sona Novakova and Nicole Kosakowsi were the first to finish, with an 8-1 victory over Marizanne Bouwer and Tori Dollar in the third flight. The 78th-ranked duo of Nina Secerbegovic and Megan Horter followed with an 8-1 victory over Haley Martin and Lina Semenova on the first court to clinch the doubles point.

Baylor didn’t slow down at the start of singles play. Novakova, ranked 56th in the nation, scored a 6-1, 6-1 win over Martin in the third flight to make the score 2-0, and Jordaan Stanford topped Bouwer on the fifth court, 6-1, 6-0, to push the lead to 3-0.

The home team needed only one more result to end the match, and they got it from Ema Burgic, who swept Kristin Gray at the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-0, for the clinching point.

With the result no longer in doubt, the remaining three singles matches were stopped in progress, including Summit League Player of the Year Iryna Khatsko’s final collegiate match at top flight singles.

The loss ends the collegiate careers of Khatsko, Semenova, Gray and former All-Summit League selection Ekaterina Kondrashova.
