Marizanne Bouwer and the Golden Eagles knocked off Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday

ORU Rallies to Top Oklahoma Baptist, 5-2

TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University lost the doubles point but came back to beat Oklahoma Baptist, 5-2, on Tuesday night at the Case Tennis Complex. ORU improves to 1-3 with the win.

The Golden Eagles could not secure the doubles point after dropping two of the three pairs matches. On the top court, Haley Martin and Tori Dollar fell to Lillian Fereirra and Anastasiya Baranova, 8-6, while Natalia Dollar and Brittany Smith were knocked off by Ashlynn Abbe and Elisa Brito, 8-6, on court three.

ORU’s lone doubles win came on the second court, where Rachel Scroggs and Marizanne Bouwer took an 8-2 win from Camden Rodriguez and Mariana Rosa.

The Bison also took a point on the top singles court, where Baranova topped Martin, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, but the Golden Eagles won the final five individual matches.

Tori Dollar earned the point on court two, 7-5, 7-5, over Fereirra, and Bouwer beat Rosa on the third court, 6-1, 6-0. Scroggs won a three-setter over Brito in the fourth flight, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, giving ORU a 3-2 lead.

The final two courts also went in ORU’s favor. Natalia Dollar beat Abbe in flight five, 6-0, 7-5, and Smith beat Kelsi Lord on court six, 6-2, 6-3.

With the victory in hand, ORU will turn their attention to their next opponent, Northeastern State. Beverly Dawson’s team will face the Riverhawks on Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm.
