Women's Tennis Opens Summit with 4-0 Victory over Western Illinois

Kansas City, MO—The Oral Roberts women’s tennis team opened the conference season with a 4-0 victory over Western Illinois in the first game of a Summit League cluster Wednesday afternoon at Woodside Health and Fitness Club.

Iryna Khatsko got things going in #1 singles, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win over WIU’s Marcela Brandao.

Kristen Gray pulled out a 6-1, 6-1 victory in #3 singles, while Ekaterina Kondrashova rolled to a win in #5 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Melissa Kaufmann.

ORU earned a victory in the #6 spot with a Rachel Scroggs win by default, while the #2 and #4 matches went unfinished.

No doubles contests were played.

With the win, ORU improves to 2-5 on the season and 1-0 in the Summit League.

The Golden Eagles take the court once again this afternoon when they face UMKC at 2:00 p.m.
