North Texas Sweeps ORU, 7-0

Kristin Gray and the Golden Eagles fell to North Texas, 7-0
DENTON, Texas - The University of North Texas handed Oral Roberts University their fourth consecutive women’s tennis loss on Saturday afternoon, earning a 7-0 win at the Waranch Tennis Complex.

ORU is now 1-4 on the season.

The Mean Green (2-2) took control of the match by sweeping the doubles courts.  In the top flight, Valentina Starkova and Barbora Vykydalova topped Hailey Martin and Lina Semenova, 8-2. Nadia Lee and Franzi Sprinkmeyer doubled up Iryna Khatsko and Kristin Gray in the second flight, 8-4. On the third court, Irina Paraschiv and Kseniya Bardabush defeated Rachel Scroggs and Marizanne Bouwer, 8-2.

Singles play was also a clean sweep for North Texas. Starkova won the top flight over Khatsko after the ORU player retired in the second set. Paraschiv downed Martin on the second court, 6-0, 6-1, and Ilona Serechenko took down Semenova at the third flight, 6-0, 6-2.

Paula Dinuta beat Gray on the fourth court, 6-2, 6-1, and Sprinkmeyer took down Bouwer at the No. 5 spot, 6-2, 7-6. The final court finished the sweep for the Mean Green, as Vykydalova beat reigning Summit League Player of the Week Tori Dollar, 6-3, 6-2.

ORU’s next scheduled match is Feb. 15, when they host Oklahoma Baptist University.
