TULSA, Okla. - Playing for the first time in the month of February, the Oral Roberts University women’s tennis team swept Oklahoma Baptist University, 7-0, on Wednesday night.

The victory snaps ORU’s four-match losing streak and moves Chris Milliron’s team to 2-4.

ORU seized momentum with three doubles wins. Hailey Martin and Lina Semenova teamed to take the top flight, 8-3, over Lilian Ferriera and Paola Costa, while Kristin Gray and Iryna Khatsko dropped Elisa Brito and Marianna Rosa at the second spot, 8-1. The third flight was also an 8-1 ORU win, as Marizanne Bouwer and Tori Dollar scored the win over Shauna Beach and Kelsi Lord.

Khatsko kept the good vibes going with a top flight singles victory, 6-3, 6-2, over Costa. Martin won a similarly hard-fought match on the second court, 6-3, 6-1, over Ferriera. Semenova followed suit at the third flight, a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rosa.

On the fourth court, Gray knocked off Brito, 6-0, 6-1.

The final two courts were 6-0, 6-0 ORU wins. Bouwer won the No. 5 match over Lord, and Dollar swept away Emily Wilson.

ORU faces another long layoff as they get set for their next match. The Golden Eagles take the court again on Sunday, March 4, when they face Central Arkansas.
