The Golden Eagles (10-5, 7-0 Summit League) will go for the undisputed Summit League regular season title on Saturday, when they face Southern Utah.
ORU and Oakland skipped straight to singles competition on Friday, and the Golden Grizzlies were no match for the firepower of Chris Milliron’s team. The Golden Eagles did not concede more than three games in any of the six matches.
Iryna Khatsko took her first court match from Caitlin Young by retirement, and ORU won in straight sets on the other five courts. Lina Semenova earned the win in the first completed match, 6-0, 6-1, over Grace Keating.
The momentum from the first two courts extended on to the bottom four. Haley Martin won this third flight, 6-0, 6-1, over Demi Georgakopoulos, and Kristin Gray took the fourth court over Brittany Baxter, 6-2, 6-1.
Marizanne Bouwer won at the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-0, over Caryn Kimmel, and Tori Dollar won the sixth court with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Abbey Bates.
Khatsko is now 7-0 in Summit League matches from the top flight.
Saturday’s appointment with Southern Utah is the last scheduled match of the season for the Golden Eagles, and first serve is booked for 1 pm CT.
