Golden Eagles Drop 7-0 Decision to Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas - Oral Roberts University picked up a Southland Conference loss on Saturday afternoon as they fell to Lamar, 7-0, at the Municipal Tennis Center.

Lamar (8-7, 4-1 SLC) took easy victories on all three doubles courts. In the top flight, Helene Czudek and Carolina Salas were 8-6 victors over ORU’s Haley Martin and Marizanne Bouwer, while on court two it was Carolina Maso and Alicia Porte winning an 8-3 decision over Tori Dollar and Melanie Marlin. Dariya Dashutina and Natalia Mayagoitia were also 8-3 winners on court three, over Rachel Scroggs and Natalia Dollar.

The Lady Cardinals dropped just one set in their six singles wins. Salas won the featured court over Martin, 7-5, 6-1, while Maso was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Marlin in the second flight. Dashutina dropped Bouwer on court three, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4, and the fourth flight belonged to Porte, 7-5, 6-4, over Tori Dollar.

Alessandra Pennesi won the No. 5 match, 6-0, 7-5, over Natalia Dollar, and Mayagoitia finished the day in the sixth flight with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Scroggs.
The loss drops ORU to 2-9, 1-5 in SLC play.

The Golden Eagles resume play on Wednesday, when they travel to Conway, Ark., for a matchup with Central Arkansas.
