ORU's Silva Takes Player of the Week Honors

Silva was a dominant defensive force last week, leading Oral Roberts (15-4, 8-1 Summit League) to a pair of League victories. On Friday night, the Niteroi, Brazil native had a career-high 38 digs in a 3-2 win over South Dakota State. Just a day later, she topped that mark with 41 digs in a five-set win over North Dakota State.
The NDSU victory was ORU’s eighth straight and gave the Golden Eagles sole possession of first place in the Summit League standings.
For the week, Silva averaged a whopping 7.9 digs per set. She also added ten assists, two service aces and a kill in the two wins.
For the season, the sophomore averages a team-high 5.32 digs per set.
Oakland junior Brittany Holbrook earned her first career Summit League Offensive Player of the Week award after leading the Golden Grizzlies to a 2-0 week.
Silva and the Golden Eagles return to the court on Friday, when they face UMKC. First serve in Kansas City is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
