INDIANAPOLIS - Oral Roberts University is ranked No. 70 in the first NCAA Division I Volleyball RPI rankings of the 2011 season, which were released today.

ORU (17-4, 10-1 Summit League) is among the hottest teams in the nation, having won ten consecutive matches. The Golden Eagles won a pair of road matches last weekend, defeating League opponents UMKC and South Dakota.

With the wins, ORU now has nine road victories, which leads the nation.

ORU’s ten-match winning streak is their first since 2006, the last time the Golden Eagles captured the Summit League (then Mid-Continent Conference) crown.

Sheera Sirola’s team is the second-ranked Summit League team in the RPI rankings, behind No. 55 North Dakota State. Though the Bison are ranked higher, ORU holds an edge in the season series, having won a 3-2 decision on Oct. 8 in Fargo.

ORU returns to Tulsa this Thursday night, when they face Western Illinois. First serve is set for 7 pm.
