ORU Welcomes IUPUI on Saturday

The Golden Eagles (18-4, 11-1 Summit League) have won 11 straight matches and are a game-and-a-half ahead of North Dakota State at the top of the Summit League standings.
The 11-match winning streak is the second-longest streak during Sheera Sirola’s tenure as Head Coach of the ORU program.
The Golden Eagles won 15 consecutive matches during the 2006 season en route to winning a Mid-Continent Conference championship.
The run continued on Thursday night, as ORU dropped Western Illinois, 3-1. Olivia Ophus led all players with 15 kills in the victory, while Bruna Silva checked in with a team-high 23 digs.
Thursday’s victory was characterized by ORU’s trademark balanced approach. Ophus completed a double-double with 16 digs, while Sthephanie Mab added ten. On the offensive end, Elizabeth McVicker added 13 kills, while Joana Gruber and Tatum Fredeen each had 12. At the net, Sheina Fernandes collected three solo blocks and six total.
The win was ORU’s eighth in a row against Western Illinois.
Oral Roberts has also historically dominated IUPUI (11-12, 6-6 Summit League), posting a 29-4 all-time record against the Jaguars. ORU has won three straight matches against their Saturday opponent, including a three-game sweep on Sept. 23 in Indianapolis.
Gruber had a team-high 11 kills in that win, while Silva added 15 digs. The victory was one of ORU’s nine road wins this season, most in the nation heading into the week.
The Jaguars fell on Thursday night, 3-1, at Southern Utah. Moriah Fair had a team-leading nine kills and 16 digs in the loss, IUPUI’s second in their last three matches.
Following Saturday’s match, ORU will head back on the road to face Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. First serve on Oct. 28 is scheduled for 7 pm.
