The Golden Eagles (19-4, 12-1 Summit League) have won 12 consecutive matches and 19 of their last 20 outings. The 12-match streak is the longest for ORU since a 15-match streak in 2006.
Last week, Sheera Sirola’s team was ranked No. 70 in the RPI. The nine-spot jump comes after a pair of 3-1 wins over Western Illinois and IUPUI.
Though both wins were at home last week, ORU continues to lead the nation in road wins. Both the Golden Eagles and North Dakota have nine road victories.
ORU is still the second-ranked Summit League team in the RPI. North Dakota State, who lost a five-setter to ORU on Oct. 8 and trails Sirola’s squad in the Summit League standings, is 11 spots higher this week.
The Golden Eagles will have two opportunities to increase their road-win total and maintain their Summit lead this weekend, when they face both Oakland and IPFW away from home. The two-match slate begins Friday at 7 pm in Rochester, Mich.
