TULSA, Okla. - Head Coach Sheera Sirola is proud to announce that Sadie Schaffner has signed a letter of intent to join the Oral Roberts University volleyball team for the 2012 season. Schaffner will graduate from Bartlesville High School in May of 2012.

Schaffner stands 6’3” and plays both right side and middle blocker. The current high school senior led the Bruins to an OSSAA Class 6A State Semifinal appearance in 2010, and she was an All-State selection in 2011.

“We’re very excited to have Sadie join our roster next season,” Sirola said of the signing. “Adding her to a core of experienced veterans strengthens our team tremendously, and I’m really looking forward to seeing her compete as a Golden Eagle.”

Schaffner led the Bruins with 337 kills and 79 total blocks last season. She also tallied 47 service aces.
On the club circuit, Schaffner played for the Club One Black 18’s squad, where she was coached by current ORU assistant Dane Hendrix.

A well-rounded student-athlete, Schaffner is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Honor Choir. She plans to major in psychology at ORU with the goal of pursuing a career in counseling.

Schaffner joins an ORU team that finished with a 20-10 record for the recently-completed 2011 season. Led by Summit League Defensive Player of the Year Bruna Silva and All-Summit League selection Elizabeth McVicker, the Golden Eagles advanced to the Summit League Championship match.

ORU will begin play in the Southland Conference in 2012.
