Fernandes Named to Academic All-District Team

TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University senior Sheina Fernandes has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, it was announced today.
Fernandes has been a standout performer both on and off the court during her time at ORU. As a middle blocker, the senior leads ORU and ranks 4th in the Southland Conference with a .340 hitting percentage. She also averages 2.68 kills and 1.21 blocks per set this year.
In the classroom, the Porto Alegre, Brazil native has a perfect 4.00 GPA in International Business. She is a two-time Golden Eagle Super Scholar, and she was named to the 2011 Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence.
As an Academic All-District selection, Fernandes is a candidate for the Capital One Academic All-American Team, which will be released later this month.
Fernandes and the Golden Eagles have won six of their last seven matches and sit 14-13 (10-6 Southland Conference) heading into the final week of the regular season. Already assured of a berth in the Southland Conference Tournament, ORU will host Stephen F. Austin on Thursday and Northwestern State on Saturday to wrap up the regular season schedule.
