FRISCO, Texas - Oral Roberts University junior libero Bruna Silva has been named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The weekly award is the second of the season for Silva.

Silva led all SLC players with 5.71 digs per set last week, helping the Golden Eagles split a pair of conference matches. On November 8 against Stephen F. Austin, she tallied a career-best nine assists and 17 digs in a 3-1 loss, and she racked up 23 digs in a sweep of Northwestern State on November 10.

For the season, the reigning Summit League Defensive Player of the Year has 562 digs and averages 5.11 digs per set. Both numbers lead the Southland Conference.

Silva and the Golden Eagles (15-14, 11-7 SLC) enter the SLC Tournament as the sixth seed. They will face third-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, November 16 at 1:30 pm CT in the tournament’s quarterfinal round. The match will be streamed live on the Southland Digital Network.
