CEDAR CITY, Utah - Kurt Giller took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and finished with a complete game shutout as Oral Roberts defeated Southern Utah 6-0 on Thursday at Thunderbird Park.

Giller (2-4) allowed just three hits on the day, striking out six, and the Golden Eagles Improve to 16-16 and 3-2 in the Summit League.

Nate Goro had a breakthrough performance, leading ORU at the plate with three RBI.  Jared Schlehuber made a big contribution as well, batting 3-5 with two runs scored.

Southern Utah (9-23, 3-2 Summit League) dropped their second consecutive conference game after starting 3-0. Starter Chase Rezac (2-4) pitched six innings, allowing six runs off 10 hits. The T-Birds allowed 14 total hits in the game.

Bennett Pickar started the scoring with an RBI-double in the second inning to give ORU a 1-0 lead.

Giller held Southern Utah hitless through six innings, enough time for Goro to extend the lead in the sixth with a two-run single to give ORU a 3-0 lead.

ORU blew the game wide open in the eight with three insurance runs, starting with a single to right field by Brandon Healy, scoring Schlehuber. Then a sacrifice bunt by Goro scored Brandon King to make it 5-0, and Logan Domenico capped the game with a single that scored Healy on an errant throw.

The series against Southern Utah continues tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
