WICHITA, Kan. Ė Colby Price drove in the game-winning run in the top of the 13th-inning as the Oral Roberts University baseball team defeated Wichita State by a score of 7-6 in their first game in 10 days on Tuesday night at Eck Stadium. The Golden Eagles improved to 23-11 overall, while the Shockers dropped to 24-23 on the season.

Juan Martinez (Bakersfield, Calif.) led ORU on the night, going 5-for-7 with four RBI, while Colby Price went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI and Michael Notaro (Westlake Village, Calif.) chipped in two hits.

After getting the lead-off runner on in five innings without scoring a run, Kyle Price (Talihina, Okla.) led off the 13th frame with a single up the middle before Colby Price slapped a single to center field for the go-ahead run.

The Golden Eagles rallied and plated two runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie the contest at 6-6. Johnny Roberts (Pryor, Okla.) reached on an error to lead off the inning, and Colby Price legged out a triple to left center to plate pinch-runner Nikko Wong.

Tyler Garewal (Bakersfield, Calif.) drew a two-out walk before Martinez tallied his fourth hit of the night to right field to drive in the tying run.

T.J. Kelly (Bakersfield, Calif) didn’t allow a base runner in three innings with three strikeouts before Drew Bowen (Tulsa, Okla.) entered the contest in the 12th inning. After two singles, Josh Rosecrans was intentionally walked before Martinez and Colby Price turned an impressive double play to escape the threat.

Bowen pitched a perfect 13th inning to earn his second win of the season, while Wichita State’s Dalton Banwart (0-1) suffered the loss.

Wichita State first struck in the bottom of the first inning when Cody Lassley doubled to drive in Tyler Grimes. With no outs and a runner on second, Jerry Sullivan bounced back by striking out the side.

The Golden Eagles countered in the top of the third inning with a run to tie the contest. Garewal drew a two-out walk, and Martinez followed with a double. Garewal scored on the play on a throwing error by the shortstop.

The Shockers put two more runs on the board in the home half of the fourth inning on four base hits, two of which didn't leave the infield, and two throwing errors.

ORU answered in the top of the fifth as Martinez crushed a three-run bomb over the left field scoreboard to put the Golden Eagles up 4-3.Colby Price hit a single to left center and Danny Duffy (Glendale, Ariz.) slapped a single through the left side before Martinez cleared the bases with his 11th homer of the season and 20th of his career.

Jeff Burleson (Bakersfield, Calif.) and Spencer Roberts (Littleton, Colo.) threw two scoreless innings before the Shockers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to reclaim the lead.

Mark Serrano (Downey, Calif.) came on in the eighth and struck out Grimes, who still reached on a wild pitch. Lassley reached on a fielder’s choice, and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Will Baez hit a bloop double over first base to drive in the runner and tie the game.

Clinton McKeever followed with a double down the left field line to give Wichita State the 5-4 lead. Serrano then struck out Chris O’Brien, who also reached on a fielder’s choice, before fanning Ryan Engrav for his fourth strikeout of the inning to end the frame.

The Shockers added a run in the top of the ninth to push the lead to 6-4. Serrano struck out the first two batters for his 100th punch out of the season before Grimes tripled to left center and Lassley drove him in with a single to left center.
