The 2011 baseball tournament takes place from May 26-28, at Sioux Falls Stadium in Sioux Falls, S.D., and is hosted by South Dakota State University.
The top-seeded Golden Eagles ended the regular season on a four-game winning streak and have won 13 of their last 16 league contests. ORU has advanced to the NCAA Tournament the last 13 years by virtue of capturing the league tournament title.
South Dakota State, the top seed a year ago, earns the No. 2 seed with a league record of 20-8. North Dakota State, making its first-ever appearance at the tournament, captured the No. 3 seed with a 15-12 record, while Western Illinois is the No. 4 seed advancing to the league championship for the first time since 2008.
No. 1 Oral Roberts (33-20, 21-7 Summit) faces No. 4 Western Illinois (21-36, 13-15 Summit) in game one Thursday at 2 p.m. (CDT). No. 2 South Dakota State (35-18, 20-8 Summit) will meet No. 3 North Dakota State (21-30, 15-12 Summit) in Thursday’s nightcap at 7 p.m. (CDT).
