TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University plays the final and perhaps most important series of their Summit League tenure this week, when the Golden Eagles host North Dakota State University at J.L. Johnson Stadium to close the regular season. The four-game series starts on Thursday at 6:30 pm CT, while Friday’s doubleheader starts at 2 pm CT and Saturday’s finale starts at 1 pm CT.

Live audio and video coverage of the series is available around the world and free of charge at ORUGoldenEagles.com. ORU fans in the Tulsa area can listen to the games on KYAL-AM 1550.

The race for the Summit League regular season title is wide open heading into the final week of the season. ORU currently sits at the top of the League standings, with a 14-5 conference record, while Oakland is 12-5 and North Dakota State is 13-7. All three clubs are still mathematically in the race for the League crown, while Southern Utah (11-8) has clinched the League’s fourth and final conference tournament berth and takes on Oakland this weekend.

The Golden Eagles (30-21 overall) won three out of four games last weekend from IPFW, outscoring the Mastodons by a 43-10 margin. Junior pitcher Drew Bowen was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete game four-hit shutout in an 11-0 opening game victory, and junior catcher Bennett Pickar was named Summit League Player of the Week after batting .667 with a grand slam and 11 RBI in the series.

Late Monday night, Pickar also took home the College Sports Madness Summit League Player of the Week honors.

Though none of the three went deep in the IPFW series, ORU continues to boast the Summit League’s top three power hitters. Senior Jared Schlehuber leads the conference with 12 home runs, while Jose Trevino has ten and Cam Schiller has eight.

Trevino continues to stalk ORU’s freshman record books. The Golden Eagle 3rd baseman is one home run short of ORU’s freshman home run record, and his 45 RBI are seven short of the program rookie record.

North Dakota State (37-15 overall) features the Summit’s two leading hitters in Tim Colwell (.379 average) and Nick Colwell (.357). The Bison split a four-game series against Oakland last week and have already achieved a program record for victories in a season.

The Golden Eagles are 10-4 all-time against North Dakota State. Last season, the two teams split a four-game series in Fargo. Schiller batted .538 with three homers and nine RBI in the series, and Brandon King also homered against the Bison last season. Alex Gonzalez was among the Golden Eagles to record a win against NDSU last year, while Matt Rush picked up a save.

Following the series, the teams will gear up for the 2012 Summit League Championship presented by Currington Mortgage. The tournament starts on Thursday, May 24 at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
