Gonzalez was named Pitcher of the Week after tossing a gem against North Dakota State in the regular season finale. The Boca Raton, Fla., native went a complete eight innings without allowing a run and striking out nine in a 10-0 victory.
The weekly award is the seventh of Gonzalez’s career, and his third of the season. For the regular season, Gonzalez posted a 6-2 record with a 1.99 ERA.
Trevino batted .538 for the week, with two home runs and five RBI. He played error-free baseball in 17 chances, and he posted a .933 slugging percentage. His Friday home run against North Dakota State gave him 12 for the season, a new ORU freshman record. He finished the regular season with 50 RBI, two off of ORU’s high watermark for a rookie.
Trevino shares the Player of the Week award with Oakland’s Kyle Bobolts.
