TULSA, Okla. - As temperatures begin to turn colder in the region, the importance for shelter for Tulsa area homeless and special needs population rises. Over the weekend, the Oral Roberts baseball team stepped up to help meet the need.

On Saturday, the Golden Eagles took time out of their fall practice schedule to serve the John 3:16 Mission, building 29 sets of bunk beds for an addition to the Tulsa shelter.

"It was nice being able to help out those in need in Tulsa," junior outfielder Austen Colt said following the time of service. "It put things in perspective, helping who might be in a tough place in their lives. It helps us realize how blessed we all are."

First year head coach Ryan Folmar mentioned it was a great opportunity to serve Tulsa in a "way to give back to our community."

"It was a priveledge to help the John 3:16 Mission help others," said Folmar. "With such a small investment of our time and effort, we were able to help a great cause."

Folmar went on to say that the team was "very excited to be a small part of the effort to better our Tulsa community."
