Live bats highlight game one of Fall World Series
TULSA, Okla. – A solo homerun off the bat of Graham McIntyre was one of many offensive highlights during game one of the 2013 Oral Roberts University baseball Fall World Series, but it wasn’t enough as his Gold fell 8-5 to the Blue squad on Thursday night.
Despite chilly temperatures, the bats were alive in the intrasquad showdown with 21 combined hits between the two teams.
Audie Afenier, a member of the Gold team, led all hitters with three hits and scored twice. Other Gold team members with multiple hits included Jose Trevino and newcomer Deal Wilson with two each, while Tyler Boss and newcomer Anthony Sequeira each had a pair of hits to lead the Blue team.
Brandon Healy had a hit and three runs batted in for the Blue team in the victory.
Kurt Giller pitched well in for the Blue squad as he went four innings with five hits and three strikeouts in the start. Guillermo Trujillo was called upon for the Gold team and threw three-plus innings, allowing four runs on five hits, and struck out four.
Game two of the intrasquad series is set for Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
