Gonzalez earned his seventh win of the season as he went eight innings, struck out seven batters and allowed just four hits. His seven strikeouts gives him a Southland Conference best 101 for the season.
The Golden Eagles improve to 16-25 overall and 11-8 in Southland Conference action, while Lamar falls to 33-13 overall and 12-7 in the SLC, snapping its seven game conference winning streak.

One of the more efficient pitchers in the conference, Lamar starting pitcher Jonathan Dziedzic issued four walks in the first two innings of the game. Dziedzic finished the contest with five walks. A total of six Cardinal pitchers walked eight Golden Eagles and hit one.
Beginning the top of the seventh, the Cardinals made a pitching move and the Golden Eagles welcomed the bullpen with four runs on five hits in the half inning.
Dziedzic took the loss for the Cardinals after going seven innings with three runs, but did strike out nine ORU batters.
