SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Oral Roberts University baseball team used a couple of home runs on Wednesday night as they completed a mid-week two-game sweep over Missouri State on the road, 5-3.

The Golden Eagles took their sixth straight contest and improved their overall record to 20-26, while Missouri State fell to 27-18.

Taylor Tryon earned his first collegiate victory as he came on in relief and pitched one inning, allowing two hits. The Golden Eagles sent out six total pitchers, capped off by Nathan Garza who got the last three Bears out for his fourth save of the season.

Kevin Cho and Chris Williams led the Golden Eagles with two hits, while Tyler Boss and Jose Trevino each had two RBI’s.

With two outs in the top of the third, Trevino sent a shot into the Missouri State bullpen in left field to score Logan Domenico, knotting the game at three. It was Trevino’s eighth home run of the season and his third in as many games.

ORU jumped on the board just before Trevino’s home run as Cho singled and scored two batters later on a MSU error.

The Bears plated three runs to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth on four hits. Luke Voit, who finished the game with two hits, scored the first Bear run of the game.

Boss, the reigning Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, stepped the plate in the top of the fifth and blasted a two-run home run over the left field wall, to give ORU the go-ahead runs.

ORU returns home for its final home stand on Friday as they host McNeese State in a three-game set. Game one is schedule for 6:30 p.m.
