TULSA, Okla.-For the sixth time in Oral Roberts' 15 years in the Summit League, the Golden Eagles will enter the conference tournament as the number one seed as they face off against IPFW in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The first men's game of the day, ORU (26-5, 17-1) and IPFW (11-18, 5-13) will tip off from Sioux Falls Arena on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live in the Tulsa area on KYAL-FM 97.1. Free audio, will be made available through www.ORUGoldenEagles.com. The game will also be broadcast by Midco Sports and picked up by Fox College Sports and will also be shown locally in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City area on Cox 3 (HD 703). The Summit League will also be video streaming the tournament through a subscription service. Fans can purchase a 24-hour tournament pass for $3.99 or a full tournament pass for $9.99.
ORU earned the regular season sweep over IPFW, including a victory on the Mastodons' senior day which clinched the regular season championship for the Golden Eagles. In all, ORU leads the all-time series 8-3 after getting swept by IPFW during the 2010-11 season. Saturday's game will mark just the second time these two teams have met in the Summit League Tournament, with ORU winning 58-42 in the second round of the tournament on March 10, 2008.
Led by all-conference candidate Frank Gaines, first year head coach Tony Jasick got his team into the Summit League Championships with a 76-73 victory on the road at UMKC in the final game of the regular season. Gaines averages 21.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while teammate Trey McCorkle averages 12.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field.
