ORU Hosts SFA in Battle for First Place

TULSA, Okla.-Picked to finish first and second in the preseason polls, ORU and Stephen F. Austin remain unbeaten in conference play and will battle Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center for sole possession of first place.

ORU took down Northwestern State on Thursday, knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten, but will now face one of the nation's hottest teams in SFA, who has won 13 of its first 14 games, only losing to Texas A&M.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live in the Tulsa area on 97.1 FM "The Sports Animal." Free audio will also be provided at www.ORUGoldenEagles.com. Video will also be available on the ORU athletics website, and TV coverage will be provided by Golden Eagle Broadcasting (DirecTV Channel 363) and Fox College Sports, with Bob Carpenter (PBP) and Mickey Michalec (Analyst) on the call.

With ORU switching to the Southland Conference this season, there are a number of opponents that ORU may not be familiar with. Stephen F. Austin is one of the most familiar, with the two teams having faced off nine times dating back to 1987. ORU holds a slim 5-4 advantage all time, and has won three of the last four meetings, although SFA took the most recent, a 71-68 win over ORU on Dec. 14, 2002.
