TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University men’s basketball team has been picked to finish second in the Southland Conference by the league’s coaches and sports information directors, it was announced Wednesday by the league office.

The defending tournament champions from Northwestern State were picked to take the regular season title, earning 10 of 12 first place votes in the coaches’ poll and eight of 12 first place votes in the SID’s poll. ORU received the remaining two first place votes from the coaches and three first place votes from the SIDs, with defending regular season champion Stephen F. Austin picking up the final first place tally from the SIDs.

ORU returns two starters (Shawn Glover and Korey Billbury) from last year’s team that finished third in the regular season before advancing to the quarterfinals of the CIT. Also coming back are D.J. Jackson and Brandon Conley, who combined for 27 starts last year and each played in more than 30 games a year ago, as well as Jorden Kaufman, who played in 11 games before sustaining a foot injury.

There are 10 first-year players on the 2013-14 ORU roster, including Division I transfers Obi Emegano and Drew Wilson. Emegano and Corbin Byford were each on the roster last year but redshirted the season.
