ORU Head Coach Scott Sutton
Opening Statement…
“I thought this was a game that we had to play well to win. I thought the way we started we had a great opportunity and we kind of let it slip away.  You have to give K-State a lot of credit and give Marcus Foster a lot of credit, he was terrific.  He hit big shots all night long and obviously they shot a little better than they did last week. When Obi (Emegano) picked up his second in the first half, and Korey Billbury picked up his second, after that we lost some aggressiveness. Just after that point on in the first half, we were really bad. In the second half, I thought we came out and played pretty well. We were just atrocious on defense and they sliced us up. They made big shots and deserved to win the game.”

On their shooting efforts. . .
“It was tough. We have to do a better job of playing with our feet and not our hands. We have to be a little smarter. I know Korey had a tough call on him. I was jokingly talking to the referee about it being the first charge I’ve seen all year. They quit calling charges, but they ended up calling one on him. One of our strengths this year is a deep bench. We put in some guys, and they just did not make their shots whether they were freshmen or juniors. Adrion Webber comes in and gets three great looks. Bobby Word, a freshman, comes in and gets some great looks. Those are two of our best three point shooters. To win against a Big 12 team on the road, you have to make those shots.”

On defending D.J. Johnson. . .
“We told our guys where he is going to hurt you is getting angles to the basket. We cannot allow a guy that big and strong to catch it right on the block. I thought the last play of the first half, where they get the dunk, where Shane (Southwell) makes a good play and they go into the half with the momentum. We told our guys you have to do your work early, you have to push him and that is a place on film that we have seen where he will hurt you. He had a big game and we did not expect him to hurt us like he did.”

Sophomore Guard Obi Emegano

On getting to the free-throw line…
“With the new rules, it will help any driver. You just have to be aggressive and know that the referees will call the fouls close.”
