Kyron Stokes is in his second season with the Oral Roberts University women’s basketball program and his first year as an Assistant Coach. In his position, Stokes shares responsibility for all aspects of the Golden Eagle team, including recruiting, scouting and player development.

Stokes joined the ORU women’s basketball staff as Director of Operations on June 6, 2012, He tasted postseason glory in his first season on the Golden Eagle bench, as Oral Roberts won the 2013 Southland Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Stokes averaged 4.8 points per game over his 77-game collegiate career, and he was a member of two 20-win teams for the Golden Eagle men’s program.

“Bringing a young, up-and-coming coach like Kyron into the mix will be a great benefit for our staff, and I know our players will enjoy working with him,” said Head Coach Misti Cussen.
“Kyron is already a member of the ORU basketball family, and I am very happy that we will be able to keep him here for another season.”

“It’s always been a dream of mine to make my career coaching basketball,” said Stokes. “I am honored and excited that I can start here at ORU, a school where I have spent many great years already.”

A native of Mansfield, Texas, Stokes spent the 2011-12 season as a graduate assistant on the ORU men’s basketball coaching staff. In that capacity, Stokes assisted with practices, film exchange and stat keeping, helping the Golden Eagles to a 27-7 record and a Summit League regular season title. ORU also participated in the National Invitation Tournament during Stokes’ season on the bench, and earned victories over Texas Tech and No. 8 Xavier.

“Kyron has a great work ethic and is going to have a fantastic coaching career,” said Cussen. “It excites me that we will be able to help him get that career started.”

Stokes graduated from ORU in May of 2012 with B.S. in Marketing, and he is currently pursuing a MBA. He and his wife Brittany reside in Tulsa.
