TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University returns to the hardwood on Thursday, January 17 when they face the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Game time at the American Bank Center is scheduled for 5 pm CT.

Live radio of Thursday’s game is available on KYAL-AM 1550 in Tulsa and around the world at ORUGoldenEagles.com, while live video is available on GoIslanders.com.

ORU is 6-8 (3-1 Southland Conference) on the season after taking down Stephen F. Austin, 63-56, on Saturday evening at the Mabee Center. With the victory over the Ladyjacks, Oral Roberts has won 27 of their last 28 conference games inside of the Mabee Center.

Junior Christian Key was on fire against SFA, connecting on six three-point field goals and scoring a career-high 20 points. Senior Jaci Bigham added 17 points and dished 10 assists, collecting her third double-double of the season and her fourth consecutive game of 10 or more assists.

ORU forced the Ladyjacks into 19 turnovers and gave the ball away just seven times themselves. The Golden Eagles outscored SFA on points off of turnovers, 16-5. The victory was the first for the Golden Eagles this season when shooting under 40% from the floor, and only the second win for ORU when losing the rebounding battle.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has struggled through 15 games, with a 1-14 (0-4 SLC) record. The Islanders lost a low-scoring SLC contest on Saturday, 44-37, to Lamar. The loss was their fifth consecutive setback, with the team failing to top 50 points in all five losses.

Junior Ashley Darley was the only Islander in double-figures against Lamar, with 12 points. Guard Janae Blount is averaging a team-high 9.6 points per game.

AMCC’s lone victory of the season came on December 18, a 52-49 win over Cornell.

Islanders Head Coach Royce Chadwick is in his first season leading the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi program and has 562 wins in 28+ seasons as a collegiate head coach.

ORU's Misti Cussen is 6-8 in her first season leading the Golden Eagles.

Oral Roberts is 1-1 all-time against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, but has not faced the Islanders since the 2000-01 season. ORU earned a 74-61 win over the Islanders on December 7, 2000 at the Mabee Center, while A&M-Corpus Christi won the first meeting between the two squads, 60-58, on December 11, 1999 in Corpus Christi.

The Golden Eagles finish off this week's schedule on Saturday, January 19, when they face Sam Houston State. Game time in Huntsville, Texas is scheduled for 1:30 pm CT.
