Oral Roberts (8-9, 5-2 Southland Conference) dominated Lamar and knocked the Lady Cardinals out of first place in the SLC standings with a 77-48 victory on January 24 at the Mabee Center.

Four Golden Eagles scored in double-figures, led by freshman Taylor Cooper. The Shawnee native was 4-for-9 from three-point range and scored a career-high 20 points

Junior Sarah Shelton crashed the glass against Lamar and finished the game with her first career double-double. The center scored 19 points, two shy of a career-high, and grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds.

Seniors Jaci Bigham and Kevi Luper each scored 13 points in the win. Bigham was an ultra-efficient 4-for-5 from the floor, hit all three of her three-point attempts, and led all players with seven assists.

The Golden Eagle defensive effort held Lamar to 28.8% shooting from the floor and 19.0% shooting from three-point range. Lamar guard Kalis Loyd, who entered the game averaging 18.8 points per contest, was held to just 11 points on 4-for-11 shooting.

The win was the largest conference victory for the Golden Eagles since a 102-62 win over former Summit League rival IPFW on January 23, 2012.

McNeese (9-9, 4-3 SLC) got off to a rough start in league play but also knocked off a Southland Conference leader on Thursday night, earning a 77-61 win over Central Arkansas

Senior Ashlyn Baggett leads McNeese in scoring, at 18.5 points per game, while twin sister Caitlyn Baggett is averaging 13.8 points and 4.7 assists per game.

The Cowgirls were picked 1st in both Southland Conference Preseason Polls after winning the last two Southland Conference Tournaments. McNeese earned a 15-seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament and fell to 2nd-seeded Kentucky, 68-62.

McNeese State Head Coach Brooks Donald-Williams is 83-74 in her sixth season leading the McNeese program. She was the 2011 Southland Conference Coach of the Year.

ORU's Misti Cussen is 8-9 in her first season at the helm.

Oral Roberts is 1-2 all-time against McNeese State, with a 1-0 record at the Mabee Center and an 0-2 victory in neutral site games.

ORU last played the Cowgirls on November 25, 1988, a 91-63 McNeese victory at the Lady Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas.

ORU’s lone victory over the Cowgirls was a forfeit win on January 10, 1981.

Cussen's crew continues their season-long four-game home stand on Thursday, January 31 when they face Nicholls State. Tipoff at the Mabee Center is scheduled for 5 pm CT.
