Bigham Eyes Record as ORU Faces Lady Demons

Bigham heads into Thursday’s contest needing just three assists to pass 2006 alumnus Leah Cannon for ORU’s career assist record, which currently stands at 603. The McAlester native enters the game with a Southland Conference-leading 142 assists on the season, and her 7.1 assists per game average ranks 6th in NCAA Division I.
Oral Roberts (10-10, 7-3 SLC) enters the game on a two-game winning streak after trouncing Southeastern Louisiana, 90-48, on February 2 at the Mabee Center. All five ORU starters scored in double-figures in the win, led by Christian Key’s 22-point explosion.
Kevi Luper scored 19 points in the SLU win and 22 two days earlier against Nicholls State to earn SLC Player of the Week honors. The Adair product has now won 17 weekly conference awards in her illustrious four-year career.
Northwestern State has lost three straight games and is now 7-13 (3-7 SLC) on the season.
The Lady Demons were swept last weekend by Lamar, 53-34, and McNeese State, 80-54, in a pair of road contests. NSU’s last win came on January 19, a 64-55 victory over Southeastern Louisiana.
Senior center Jasmine Upchurch is leading Northwestern State with 12.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Freshman guards Janelle Perez and Keisha Lee pace the Northwestern State backcourt with 10.3 and 9.9 points per game respectively.
The Lady Demons are scoring just 52.6 points per game, 9th out of 10 teams in the Southland Conference, while ORU averages 68.4 points per game, tops in the SLC.
Northwestern Co-Head Coaches Brook and Scott Stoehr are in their first season leading the Lady Demon program, with a record of 7-13.
ORU's Misti Cussen is 10-10 in her first campaign.
Oral Roberts is 1-2 all-time against Northwestern State, but has never played a road game against NSU. The Golden Eagles took down Northwestern State on January 10 in Tulsa, 66-55. Luper and Taylor Cooper scored 16 points each to lead ORU to the win.
Northwestern State’s wins came on December 5, 1992, a 94-61 win in Lubbock, Texas, and December 2, 1994, a 94-69 win in Oxford, Miss.
ORU caps their two-game road trip on Saturday, February 9, when they face Stephen F. Austin. Tipoff in Nacogdoches, Texas is booked for 3:30 pm CT.
