TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University women’s basketball program is proud to announce that assistant coach Bojan Jankovic will serve on the coaching staff of the Serbian national team at the 2013 EuroBasket Women tournament. EuroBasket Women 2013, the most prestigious international women’s basketball tournament in Europe, begins Saturday and continues through June 30 at sites throughout the host country of France.

Jankovic recently completed his third season as an assistant coach with the ORU women’s basketball program. This is his first stint coaching with the national team of his native Serbia.

“We’re extremely proud of Bojan and excited that he can fulfill his dream of coaching for the Serbian national team,” said ORU Head Coach Misti Cussen. “Bojan is a vital member of our staff and a rising star in women’s college basketball, and he is very deserving of this honor.”

While with the Serbian national team, Jankovic will serve under Head Coach Marina Maljkovic.

In addition, ORU alumni Dominique Allen and Georgia Jones will compete for their native Great Britain at the event. Serbia and Great Britain are both part of Group C, along with Latvia and host France.

Group C play begins on Saturday, June 15 in Trelaze, France, with Jankovic’s Serbia team facing Allen, Jones and Great Britain in their tournament opener. Serbia will face France on Sunday before wrapping up group play on Monday against Latvia.

The top three teams in Group C will advance to the second round of the tournament, with the eight-team knockout round beginning on June 26. The championship match of EuroBasket Women 2013 will take place on Sunday, June 30.

Serbia narrowly qualified for EuroBasket Women by finishing 6-2 in their qualifying group earlier this month. They finished 11th at the 2007 tournament and 13th in 2009 before failing to qualify for the 2011 event.

Allen and Jones each lettered at ORU from 2008-2012 and were part of two Summit League regular season championship teams. Allen spent the 2012-13 season playing professionally at Meccanica Nova Bologna in Italy, where she averaged a team-high 10.9 points per game. Jones joined CS Universitatea Cluj Napoca in Romania midway through the 2012-13 season and averaged 10.3 points per game.

Oral Roberts went 18-13 last season and won the Southland Conference regular season and tournament titles. The Golden Eagles advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history, falling to Tennessee in the opening round.
