Golden Eagles Face Arkansas on Wednesday

ORU (1-1) dropped their last game, 84-62, on Sunday afternoon against Kansas. Kaylan Mayberry led the Golden Eagles with 17 points in defeat, with Christian Key pumping in 13 points.
The Golden Eagles struggled offensively against Kansas, shooting just 31.0% from the field, but they did have some bright spots defensively, holding Kansas to one three-point field goal and forcing 22 turnovers.
Mayberry leads ORU in scoring through two games, at 17/5 points per game, while Sarah Shelton averages a team-high 12.0 rebounds per game, 3rd-best in the Southland Conference.
Arkansas (1-0) won their season-opener, an 81-45 romp over Sam Houston State on November 8. Jessica Jackson and Kelsey Brooks scored 17 points each to pace the Razorbacks.
The Razorbacks were on fire from three-point range against SHSU, hitting 11-of-19 (57.9%) attempts. Defensively, they forced the Bearkats into 24 turnovers.
Arkansas went 20-13 last season, with a 6-10 Southeastern Conference record. The Razorbacks advanced to the second round of the WNIT.
ORU head coach Misti Cussen is 19-14 in her second season leading the Golden Eagles, while Tom Collen of Arkansas is 114-79 in his seventh year in Fayetteville and 331-149 in his 16th season overall.
Oral Roberts is 8-17 all-time against Arkansas and has lost 12 straight meetings in the series. ORU’s last victory over Arkansas came on January 2, 1988, a 77-66 win at the Mabee Center.
Arkansas topped the Golden Eagles last season in Tulsa, 80-57, on November 19, 2012. Bernadett Balla, who is currently sidelined with a foot injury, scored a career-high 26 points in the loss.
ORU returns home on Friday, November 22 to face Navy in the team’s first home game of the season against an NCAA Division I opponent. Tip time is scheduled for 7 pm CT at the Mabee Center.
