CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Oral Roberts University is back on the hardwood on Saturday, February 15, when they face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Tipoff at the American Bank Center is scheduled for an early 1 pm CT start, with live radio available on KYAL-AM 1550 and ORUGoldenEagles.com.

ORU (7-15, 6-6 Southland Conference) is still in search of a road victory after falling to Houston Baptist, 84-75, on Thursday night. Kaylan Mayberry led ORU with 18 points and Christian Key added 17, but the Golden Eagles shot just 38.0% from the floor and fell to 0-12 away from home this season.

Defense was an issue for the Golden Eagles on Thursday. The Huskies shot 53.4% from the field, the highest of the season for an ORU opponent. HBU senior Shanice Steenholdt controlled the game to the tune of 27 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

The loss once again put ORU’s postseason fate into a precarious spot. At 6-6, the Golden Eagles are in a three-way tie with Northwestern State and Sam Houston State for the 7th position in the Southland Conference standings with six games left to play. The league’s top eight teams will qualify for the SLC Tournament, which begins on March 12.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (13-11, 6-7 Southland Conference) upset league-leading Central Arkansas, 45-42, on Thursday night. Reigning Southland Conference Player of the Week Jasmine Shaw led the Islanders with 19 points in the victory.

Shaw leads the Islanders with 16.3 points per game, and she’s knocked down 63 three-point field goals on the season. Fellow guard Brittany Mbamalu has hit 66 three-pointers and averages 9.8 points per game.

ORU is 3-2 all-time against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and fell to the Islanders, 58-53, on January 4 at the Mabee Center. Shaw led AMCC with 19 points in the game, while Alexus Wilson came off the bench to score an ORU-high 13 points.

Following Saturday’s game, ORU will have a week off before wrestling with Central Arkansas on Saturday, February 22. Tipoff in Conway, Ark., is scheduled for 2 pm CT.
